Let’s talk about one of the cleanest forts of Maharashtra, the Purandar Fort. Raigad Fort Trek Raigad Fort is a magnificent hill fortress, situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The fort was built during the Adil Shahi dynasty but was captured by the Marathas. Most of the strucutres here are still intact. Note that the Purandar Fort is in the military area and hence has time restrictions from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Rajgad (literally meaning Royal Fort) is one of the forts in the Pune district of Maharashtra state in India. We took saswad – narayanpur route. Purandar fort is a 2-storeyed building- the upper portion is known as Balekilla and the lower portion is called machi. The fort has two storeys- the upper is called Balekilla while the lower is called Machi. Purandar Fort is known as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is around 1,400 m (4,600 ft) above sea level. I was accompanied by family and friend. It takes around 45 minutes to 1 hr to get to the top of the plateau and a further 30 min walk would take you to the remnants of the fort.

Standing at an altitude of around 4470 feet, Purandar fort lays 50 kms South East of Pune.

It's a must visit place during the winter or the rainy season. The twin forts of Purandar and Vajragad (or Rudramal) of which the latter is the smaller of the two, is located on the eastern side of the main fort.
