World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Water is an essential building block of life. In 2018, the theme for World Water Day is “Nature for Water”. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. This year’s theme, ‘Nature for Water’, explores nature-based solutions (NBS) to the water challenges we face in the 21st century.
